North Vancouver Teeth Whitening Service

Many people go to the dentist primarily to get their teeth cleaned. While preventative care is important, sometimes it’s good to take your dental care to the next level and make your teeth aesthetically pleasing.

That’s where Blue Sky Dental comes in. Our practice is devoted to restoring and enhancing your smile. We aim to give you a healthy smile that will last. This can include many elements, but one common service is teeth whitening.

Teeth whitening is a simple, non-invasive dental treatment used to bleach teeth. Whitening changes the color of natural tooth enamel and is an ideal way to enhance the beauty of your smile. If your teeth have been stained by cigarettes, coffee, medications, or simply age, teeth whitening can enhance the appearance of your teeth.

While there are many DIY teeth whitening products you can buy at your local drugstore, nothing beats a professional whitening. Professional whitening uses hydrogen peroxide and other chemicals to break down stains.

Interested in professional teeth whitening? At Blue Sky Dental, we offer in-office and take-home options. Read on to learn more about what to expect.

Services We Offer

At  Blue Sky Dental, we offer both Zoom and Pola whitening procedures. Zoom teeth whitening is a popular procedure that is effective at quickly brightening teeth. The Zoom whitening system uses a combination of a specialized whitening gel and a blue LED light to achieve its results.

During the procedure, we will first apply a protective covering to your lips and gums to shield them from the whitening gel. We will then apply the Zoom whitening gel, which contains hydrogen peroxide. The gel is activated by the Zoom LED light, which helps accelerate the whitening process. The light and gel work together to break up stains and discoloration on the surface of the teeth. The hydrogen peroxide in the gel penetrates the enamel and dentin of the teeth, bleaching the stains and lightening the natural color of the teeth. The gel is typically applied in multiple 15-minute sessions, with the entire Zoom teeth whitening procedure usually taking around 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the level of discoloration and desired results. After the treatment, a gel may be applied to minimize sensitivity and protect the teeth.

Pola is another teeth whitening procedure. Pola teeth whitening products typically contain hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide as the active whitening ingredient. These chemicals work by breaking down stains and discoloration on the surface of the teeth.

Pola offers in-office treatments and take-home kits. In-office treatments involve a dental professional applying the whitening gel to your teeth and using a special light or laser to activate the gel and enhance the whitening process. Take-home kits typically consist of custom-made trays that you fill with the whitening gel and wear for a specified amount of time each day.

While Pola can effectively lighten tooth stains, the results may vary depending on your starting shade and the type of discoloration you have.

Keep in mind that professional teeth whitening is effective but not permanent. You will need regular touchups to maintain the whiteness of your teeth. We will provide you with care instructions. You are encouraged to visit us regularly to help maintain a beautiful, healthy smile.

Benefits of Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening can be beneficial in many ways. Here are some ways in which it can help you:

  • Enhance appearance. Most people choose teeth whitening to improve the appearance of their smile. Whitening can remove stains and discoloration that can occur over time due to habits such as smoking or drinking coffee. Whitening can make your teeth look brighter and more youthful.
  • Increased confidence. A brighter smile can boost your self-esteem and confidence. When you feel good about your teeth, you are more likely to smile more often and feel comfortable in social and professional situations.
  • Professional advancement. An attractive smile can help you in professional situations. It may play a significant role in career advancement. The increased confidence a whiter smile can give you can help you appear more approachable, trustworthy, and successful.
